Hello.

For years, I’ve had the idea to document marketing fails in a comprehensive way to generate actionable learnings for the global marketing community.

The idea first jumped into my head when Tamir Israely suggested building a “Failure Backlog” back at the Hackabu Growth Hacking Agency in 2018. Of course, the hustle of the day-to-day agency business never allowed us to get around to building it.

In January 2019, I held a one-off keynote at the Otago Agency in Vienna about my Biggest Growth Hacking Fails. The feedback was great, and I tried to spin off the format into an occaisional video series – #FailSmarter – where I speak about mistakes that occur to me during my marketing work. I tried recording this video format from 2019 to 2021, but never really got into a regular production flow – too many NDAs and other limitations in place, to really create useful content.

So what can I do instead? A global database of Marketing Failures. From novices to veterans – anyone can contribute. Setting up this site and the interview process took me longer than expected, but now I’m finally happy to get started. And I need your help: do you think this site is useful? Do you have ideas how to improve it? No matter what it is – I need your feedback to fuel my fire to build FailSmarter into the most useful ressource it can possibly be.
